The Eden Project |
|
The Eden Project is a global garden for the 21st Century, a gateway to a sustainable future and a dramatic setting in which to tell the fascinating story of mankind's dependence on plants. It is already a top international visitor destination and is rapidly becoming a unique resource for education and home to our Foundation for the Future.
This Living theatre of Plants and People is a vibrant reminder of our place in nature and is a living demonstration of regeneration. In a couple of short years the team have transformed an exhausted clay pit into a stunning lost world reminding us of what we 'ordinary' people can do once we set our minds to it.
In the Humid Tropics Biome you can experience the sights, smells and sheer scale of the rainforest in the world's largest greenhouse. Discover the tropical plants found in the products you use every day and understand the ways in which they are being managed for a positive future.
In the Warm Temperate Biome you can travel to South Africa and California and walk amongst orange and lemon trees, old olive groves and gnarled vines. Investigate the cork popping present and glimpse the futures of naturally coloured cottons and new tastes and new ideas.
And in the Roofless Biome - 30 acres if outdoors - the crescent shaped terraces tell the story of plants that have changed the world and which could change your future. Hemp and sunflowers are growing here under the warm Cornish sun. Tea too.
Eden is a place with serious ambitions - a symbol of the strength of the people working with nature to repair damaged places and to make our environment rich and healthy. But above all it's a fun place or more than five million wouldn't have come so far and the thousands who have come back again and again wouldn't have bothered. |

What facilities does the Eden Project provide for disabled guests? |
|
We have made every endeavour to make Eden as wheelchair friendly as possible though please always bear in mind that the full site covers some 35 acres.
We have over 45 wheelchairs on site available free of charge. These are available on a first come first served basis only and and cannot be booked in advance.
We have landtrains that run between the Visitor Centre and the biomes - these can also carry wheelchairs. There are disabled toilets in the Visitor Centre and also in the Link building between the biomes. |
What catering facilities are there at the Eden Project? |
|
We have two restaurants between the biomes, called Morocco Red and Zzub Zzub. Morocco Red is an assisted service restaurant whilst Zzub Zzub is a self-service cafe serving light lunches. There is also a coffee bar in the Visitor Centre and our Gallery restaurant which has fantastic panoramic views of the biomes. |
